About IFIAR
IFIAR the International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators was formed by its twelve founding members at a meeting in Paris in September 2006. To date IFIAR has 35 members, which is a significant growth rate. The member organisations come in a variety of shapes and sizes and this adds to the ability of members to benefit from participation in IFIAR. IFIAR has focussed itself to date on the exchange of experiences and information, promoting co-operation between the IFIAR Members and interaction with investors and the Global Public Policy Committee (GPPC). IFIAR also provides a platform for dialogue with other organizations that have an interest in audit quality.
The Charter of IFIAR that was adopted at the plenary meeting in September 2008 in Cape Town clearly states the three core functions of IFIAR:
sharing knowledge of the audit market environment and practical experience of independent audit regulatory activity;
promoting collaboration in regulatory activity; and
providing a focus for contacts with other international organisations which have an interest in audit quality.
